Berwyn traffic stop catches man Chicago police would like to talk to

Four of the five passengers in a 2000 Dodge pickup weren’t wearing seatbelts, so police stopped the truck in the 7000 block of Cermak.  Driver Jose Moyorito, 44, of Cicero, was charged with driving unlicensed and uninsured, and with failing to secure a child under 16.  Because he also had no license, he was identified by fingerprints.  These revealed he was wanted on a Chicago police department warrant.

Berwyn keeps catching DuPage’s most wanted

Stopped for wearing no seatbelt at Cermak and Wisconsin, the driver of a black 1995 Jeep told police he had no license to drive.  Actually, Chicagoan Juan M.. Cervantes, 27, had a license that was suspended.  He had no insurance and an active warrant from DuPage county for failure to appear in court on a DUI charge.  He was charged accordingly and held for DuPage.

Expired plates betray unlicensed driver

An officer at Cermak and Wenonah stopped a red Lincoln with expired Indiana plates.  Driver Jose Nunez, 21, of Cicero, also had no license or insurance.

Seatbelt check nabs unlicensed driver

Pedro G. Nava, 32, of Cicero, was stopped in Berwyn for wearing no seatbelt.  The 1999 Ford pickup he drove was towed because he also lacked license and insurance.

Plate, license, insurance all missing

A car driven by 50-year-old Victor Vivar of Cicero was stopped in the 7000 block of Cermak for having no front plate.  Vivar also had no insurance and an expired license.

Wanted man caught in Berwyn traffic stop

A blue 2005 Scion passed through the flashing red light at Cermak and Wisconsin without stopping, as a police officer watched.  He stopped the driver, 24-year-old Jose Martinez of Cicero, who could not show a driver’s license.  A name check showed that this was because he didn’t have one to show, and also that he had an active arrest warrant out of DuPage County. He was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device and driving without license and insurance; he was held for DuPage County.

Rude (and painful) awakening

Four officers responded to a call about a woman with a knife in the 6600 block of 31st.  The caller, a 25-year-old man, said his drunken girlfriend used a shoe to hit him several times as he slept.  When he got up, she grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to “stick him” with it, so he called police.  When asked what happened, the woman stated “ F--- him, he’s a liar.  F--- him, he drank all night and cheated on me.” She was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of domestic battery.

Copper thief moves fast

A homeowner from the 6900 block of Riverside drive told police he saw a man remove a copper downspout from the house and flee to an older dark green Chevy waiting in the alley. The car and its contents fled northbound.  The suspect is described by the witness as a 25-30 year-old male Hispanic, in blue jeans and a dark blue short-sleeved shirt.

Junkie son hits dad, flees

A 70-year-old man from the 3600 block of Clarence told police he and his 31-year-old son argued over the son’s drug habit, which led to the son punching dad in the face with his fist.  The son then knocked down and broke dad’s TV before fleeing.  The son has an extensive rap sheet and dad agreed to sign a complaint, charging the son with domestic battery and criminal damage.

Caregiver charged with patient endangerment

A hospice patient’s live-in caregiver was found by his boss and by police drunk and unwilling to leave.  Amarbold Dovdon, 42, of Chicago was too intoxicated to stand.  He was supposed to be caring for an elderly man with several ailments; the patient told police he had not been fed or given his medicine.  The victim’s niece, alarmed when she could not reach anyone at the uncle’s place in the 1300 block of Harvey, called the owner of the caregiver service.  The owner got no response either, so she came to the address and found her employee incoherent and the patient’s medicines full—meaning they had not been administered in some time.  Dovdon was charged with endangerment.

One burglar comes through window, the other forces the door

A homeowner in the 2500 block of Clarence reported that, sometime after 1 PM, someone entered through an open rear window and stole three diamond rings, a gold necklace and a gold bracelet.
And in the 6400 block of 34th St., someone forced open a rear door and made off with 15-20 DVDs, $100-$150 in loose change, $100 in 20s and a man’s gold ring.

Burglar hauls out pillowcase full of loot

A 35-year-old man came home to his apartment in the 3100 block of Grove to find someone had entered through his unlocked bedroom window.  The offender used the man’s pillowcase and stuffed it with things: a 14k gold man’s ring, a lockbox containing personal documents, a DVD player and 40 discs, a laptop computer, a pistol-style airgun, and the spare key to a Ford Explorer.

Owner of loose dog ticketed

A male black Lab/shepherd mix with no collar, tags or microchip, was found at 23rd and Grove.  The owner, a 37-year-old man from the 2400 block of Grove, was found and ticketed.

Bathroom seeker tries to enter grade school

A school secretary at Emerson Elementary, 3105 Clinton, told police a man tried to open the locked school door at 12:10 PM.  Ask what he was up to, the man stated he was working in the area and wished to use the bathroom.  The secretary informed him this could not be done, and he left.  She then called the secretary at Heritage Middle School and told her what happened.  The second secretary said the same thing had happened to her three weeks ago.  The man trying to enter Emerson was described as about 35, 5’8”, thin, black, with a silver left front eyetooth; wearing a baseball cap and a dark blue windbreaker with two bags, one over each shoulder with the straps crossed in front.  The Heritage incident featured a thin black male, no front teeth, in a yellow hard hat.  Solicitors were seen in the area wearing crossed bags.
