Out-of-town trespassers arrested at high school

A dean at Morton West High School called police to make a complaint about two males—not Morton students—who would not leave school property.  The seventeen-year-old males were from Forest Park and Maywood. The Maywood teen became aggressive and police had to place him on the ground to handcuff him.  Both were charged with criminal trespass.

Garage burglar makes off with plumbing tools

A man who stores plumbing tools in a garage in the 2100 block of Wesley reported someone broke in through the service door and stole his pipe threader and two boxes of tools.

Catburglar strikes from roof

The manager of an office in the 6600 block of Cermak noticed several computers missing.  The burglar(s) apparently entered through windows accessible from an adjoining rooftop.  Two computers with towers, one ThinkPad and one printer were stolen.

Courtyard carousers

Citizen complaints reported people drinking during the night in the courtyard of a building in the 6600 block of Cermak.

The friend of my friend is (in this case) my enemy

A man told police he was threatened by the friend of a friend.  A man who lives near 15th and Clinton called the victim, upset because their mutual friend had sold him a gun that shot blanks. He wanted his money back and told the victim to get the money for him or else.  The offender told him “I’m not going to touch you, but you will see bullets through your house.”

Rock damages windshield

The owner of a 2004 Chevy Blazer parked in the 2800 block of Highland reported someone threw a rock and damaged his windshield.

Too rushed to get a license

April 19, 2007
A 41-year-old Berwyn woman driving a 2007 Pontiac Gran Prix was clocked going 50 MPH in a 30 MPH zone in the 6200 block of Ogden.  She had insurance but never actually got around to getting licensed.

Poking through construction site without an invitation

Police found someone tried to enter a building under construction in the 6800 block of Roosevelt – plywood covering a window was pried open and a ladder was propped nearby.

Man, woman make poor partners in every sense

A woman called police to her apartment in the 1800 block of Elmwood, where she was unable to get her ex-boyfriend to leave.  She said they used to have a thing, but now they are “just business partners”.  She was upset because her business partner grabbed her wrists and threw her on her bed; he had been drinking, but he told police “she hit me first.”

There is no here, there

A 26-year-old woman from the 1300 block of Clinton was seen by an officer crossing the double yellow line at Pershing and Oak Park Avenue.  The officer asked for her license and insurance; she proffered the license, but just sat there and had to be asked again to produce the insurance card.  The card was expired.  Asked where she was going, the driver said “I’m going home right here.” Asked if she knew where “here” was, she said no.  The woman appeared the worse for booze; she failed several sobriety tests and was found to have a blood alcohol level of .163, over twice the DUI limit.

Chicago teen blows through red light; lacks license, insurance

A woman in a white 1995 Jeep ignored a red light at 26th and Highland and was pulled over.  Driver Maria Elia Del Villar Villanueva, age 18, of Chicago, had no license and no insurance. She was ticketed and the Jeep was towed.

Them’s fightin’ words

Police were called to a flight at Alfonzie’s, 3243 Harlem. They found a man standing outside bleeding from his head.  The man, a Chicagoan age 25, said he was drinking at the bar when a guy he’d never seen before broke a bottle over his head.  The alleged offender, another Chicago man age 35, said the first man called him a “bitch” a bunch of times, so he whacked him one.  Three witnesses agreed the victim’s big mouth provoked the assault.

Random vandalism

A woman living in the 3100 block of Euclid got home from work and found a green 1995 Subaru sedan parked on her block with its front driver’s side window broken.  While police were on the scene, the Subaru owner appeared and confirmed nothing was missing from within the car.  She had no idea who might have done the damage, or why.

Panhandling loiterers told: begone

A patrol officer saw two men loitering at Roosevelt and Harlem; one was approaching cars with a Dunkin Donuts cup and soliciting money from drivers.  The two a 35-year-old from Summit and an Oak Park man, age 28.  Both were ticketed for loitering and told not to return to the intersection.

A Toyota eastbound on 28th from Ridgeland turned left onto Cuyler without yielding to oncoming traffic.  The driver, a Cicero man, has a suspended license.
