Speeder has no license

At Highland and Ogden, an officer stopped a black GMC pickup for speeding 46 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. Driver Juan Manuel Resendiz, 22, of Cicero, could present only a Mexican ID; he had no license to drive. He was ticketed for that and for speeding.
Drunk driver passes out while parked blocking a fire hydrant

A call about a suspicious vehicle brought police to 14th and Ridgeland, where they found a truck illegally parked so as to block a fire hydrant. The truck was registered to a man from the 1900 block of Highland. However, the driver passed out at the wheel was a 44-year-old Chicago man who reeked of alcohol. Police saw vomit on his face and running down the driver’s door. When awakened, his speech was slurred and he told police he had consumed between one and five beers. He was taken to the police station to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was ultimately identified by fingerprints. He was cited for DUI, and improper parking, among other things.

A man and woman in the 3100 block of Ridgeland told police they argued, and the man asked the police to mediate because, after he accused his girlfriend of cheating, she hit him in the face. An officer spoke with the girlfriend, who said the boyfriend was unwelcome and she wants nothing to do with him, at least until her prenatal appointment in June. The man was given a domestic violence packet and left the scene.
Burglar strikes twice

A resident of the 2500 block of Clinton says a burglar entered her bedroom. The same thing happened last week, according to the victim, who thinks a neighbor is to blame. This time around, the burglar removed $100 in silver coins; $500 in $2 bills; 5 gold rings, two pairs of earrings and a gold nameplate.
Berwyn man ticketed after accident

An accident near Wisconsin and Ogden resulted in a man from the 1300 block of Oak Park Avenue being ticketed for failure to yield.

An 18-year-old Berwyn man and a 23-year-old Cicero man told police they were involved in a road rage incident with a man in a beige van. The van reportedly followed the two men, who were in a car, to the 1800 block of Home. The van driver emerged with a baseball bat in his hand. The men say the bat-wielder told them he would be back to “mess up” their cars and would bring a gun with him.

A man in the 1900 block of Wenonah told police his ex-girlfriend, who lives two blocks from him, came by and threw junk around his yard.
Man accused of offering stolen weapon for sale

A confidential informant told detectives that a 37-year-old man from the 6700 block of Stanley was trying to sell a stolen AK-47. The man gave police verbal consent to search his apartment, but no contraband was found.
Mount Prospect man drives wrong way

A Park District officer saw a 2001 Mitsubishi travel the wrong way (northbound) on Wisconsin from 31st. Driver Daniel Diaz, 21, of Mount Prospect could show no license or proof of insurance. He was cited for all three things.
Suspended driver cited in accident

An accident in the 2500 block of Wesley involving a Mitsubishi Eclipse led to tickets for the driver, a 20-year-old man from the 3700 block of Cuyler. He was cited for failure to yield and for driving with a suspended license.
Suspended driver cited for non-use of kids’ carseats

A Cicero man was stopped at Wisconsin and Windsor because the three children in his car were not secured in car seats. Daniel Alvarez, 33, of Cicero, received tickets for the lack of car seats and also for driving with a suspended license. He and the three children were transported to the police station.
Apricot poodle found straying

A male apricot poodle wearing a blue collar with a rabies tag was found at large in the 3800 block of Gunderson.
Broke one too many laws

A Cadillac Seville was seen blowing the stop sign at 18th and Clarence. The officer stopped the car at 16th and asked the driver for license and insurance. The 36-year-old driver, a resident of the 6700 block of 16th, hand the officer an expired insurance card. A computer name check of the mean showed he was wanted in Riverside and DuPage County on DUI-related warrants. His license was suspended. In addition to the above offenses, he was cited for not wearing his seatbelt.

Speeding stop turns up wanted man

A 1999 GMC Safari was seen doing 35 MPH in a 20MPH zone. The officer stopped the vehicle in the 6400 block of Ogden. The car also contained a passenger, 27-year-old Fernando Orozco of Cicero, who was wanted on an Oak Park warrant and was handed off to their police department .
Burglars get in, leave with nothing

A hair salon in the 6200 block of 16th was broken into. The burglar(s) got in through the storm door, broke into the cash register, but got nothing. Police found fingerprints.
