June 3, 2007, 1:29 PM
A man from an apartment in the 3100 block of Harlem called police claiming his landlord had just broken down the door to his apartment. The caller also suggested his belongings were being stolen. The tenant, who has not paid his rent in at least three months, stated he plans to live there until he is evicted.  Police found both landlord and tenant at the scene.  When questioned by police, the tenant denied telling dispatchers items were being stolen from his apartment.  The landlord told police the tenant had promised to be gone by June 1st, so he waited an extra two days, then went into the flat to see what repairs would be needed.

Staggering drunk flees ineptly

June 3, 2007, 3:10 AM
Callers complained of a suspicious person in the 3100 block of Grove.  There, an officer noticed a man swaying and staggering down the sidewalk, smelling of alcohol.  When asked for some identification, he was uncooperative at first, then showed police a state ID.  He kept reaching into his pockets and stepping toward the officer.  A name check showed the man, 26, lived in the 2700 block of Ridgeland.  At one point, the man pushed away and tried to flee police on foot. The effort failed when he tripped on a slab of concrete in a gangway, fell and landed on his head.  He was given a ticket for resisting an officer.

Man beats, bites pregnant woman

June 3, 2007, 2:54 AM
Police spoke with a weeping 19-year-old Morris woman at a gas station in the 6700 block of Cermak.  She told them her 20-year-old boyfriend, a man from the 2200 block of Clarence, held her prisoner in his home for 45 minutes, threatening to kill her if she called police.  She also said he hit her, threw her down and bit her arm, despite his awareness that she is about 5 months pregnant.  Officers saw she had a bruised shoulder and a bite mark on her arm. The man will be charged with domestic battery when police find him— possibly a felony charge because of the woman’s pregnancy.

Inclusive nightclub mob scene brings cops from six towns

June 3, 2007, 1:48 PM
Berwyn officers responded to a fight at Inclusive nightclub, 6319 Roosevelt.  Upon arrival, police saw two men fighting outside the place and one person being tossed out the front door. The officers tried to disperse the large crowd of irate, unruly people—so large that the ten officers from Berwyn were not enough.  Cops from Oak Park, Cicero, Forest Park and Chicago were also needed.  Inclusive’s east room held 203 people, although the legal maximum is 120; the west room held 120, although legally it may hold only 73.  Manager Vernon D. Weaver, 35, of Calumet Park, received tickets for disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct (violation of occupancy limits).  Several men were charged with one count each of mob action.  They were Shanile D. Ewing, 35, of the 4900 block of west Superior, Chicago; Terence Harper, 29, of the same block; Robert Harper, 31, Bellwood; Lee S. Harper, 34, of the 5500 block of west Washington, Chicago; and Gregory L. Rice, 27, of the 14000 block of south Whipple, Blue Island.  All five posted bond and were released.

Teen with itsy bitsy motorcycle exhibits foul mouth, worse attitude; mom backs him up

June 3, 2007, 12:02 AM
An officer saw a teenage male riding a very small, not street-legal, motorcycle at midnight with no lights on.  The motorcycle-ette turned from northbound Ridgeland onto westbound 27th, using the roadway reserved for street-legal vehicles.  The officer stopped the boy and asked his name and address.  The offender gave his first name but refused to give any more information.  The officer asked several more times, then asked the boy to get off the tiny motorcycle The 17-year-old responded, “Fuck you, you don’t have the right to tell me what to do!” The officer asked again, then tried to assist the boy in dismounting by holding the vehicle’s handlebars and grabbing the offender’s wrist so the cycle would not fall.  The teen told the cop to take his hands off him, yelled “Fuck you, pig!” and pulled his hand away.  The officer handcuffed him; the boy resisted, continually yelling obscenities.  Then the teen’s mom arrived, with several of his friends. When the officer asked mom for the kid’s full name, she responded, “What did he tell you his name was?” The teen became very uncooperative, shouting further obscenities.  He was taken to the police station, where he received tickets for improper lane use on a one-way street; improper use of an electric vehicle, and improper riding of a motorcycle.
