Three tickets for Forest Park man in accident

A four-vehicle accident in the 2400 block of Oak Park Avenue led to tickets for 41-year-old Forest Park resident Chris D. Miles. The citations were for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident; operating an uninsured vehicle; and no driver’s license on his person.
Messy bedroom attributed to burglar

A house in the 1600 block of Harvey was found with a bedroom in disarray following the apparent entry of an intruder. There was no sign of forced entry and both the rear door and the bedroom window were found open.

Juvenile, suspect in recent burglary, reported for fighting

Police responding to a fight at 18th and Scoville found adults had already separated a 12-year-old boy (from the 1600 block of Gunderson) and a 14-year-old boy (from the 6600 block of Cermak). The boys told police they were wrestling, but it got “out of control”. Man yells for no apparent reason

Calls came in to the police department complaining that a man in the 6600 block of west 18th was yelling for no apparent reason. Police arrived to find a dazed and confused man, sitting on the sidewalk, apparently under the influence of some unknown substance. As the man was unable to answer questions, paramedics took him to MacNeal Hospital for evaluation. The man was an 18-year-old living in the 7100 block of Roosevelt Road.

Alley-loiterer nabbed for warrants

A man walking around in the 7000 block of Roosevelt was approached by police, who asked him what he was doing. The man answered, “Walking around.” He showed a valid Illinois state ID card. The 40-year-old man, a resident of that block, proved to have two active DuPage County warrants, and was held pending pickup by DuPage deputies. However, he posted bond at 11:55 PM and was released.

A lovely summer’s eve—what better to do than play with oneself in the backyard? Neighbors to such a one objected, calling police about a man wearing black sweat pants and masturbating in a back yard in the 1800 block of Clinton. The offender reportedly diddled himself at about 2:20 PM.
Sangamon County seeks Berwyn man; Berwyn tickets Cicero woman

An auto accident at Cermak and Clarence revealed the existence of an active Sangamon County warrant on one of the drivers involved. A 46-year-old man from the 1900 block of East was held pending extradition to Sangamon. The other driver, ticketed for lack of insurance, was 46-year-old Maria G. Perez of Cicero.
Berwyn man in North Riverside DUI accident

According to North Riverside police, Berwyn resident James D. McVeigh’s blood-alcohol level was over three times the legal limit when he rear-ended another vehicle stopped in traffic in the 8100 block of Cermak Road, setting off a chain reaction crash that damaged two other vehicles just before 8 a.m. on June 19.
McVeigh, 50, reportedly was westbound in the left lane when he drove his 2004 Hyundai Sonata into the back of a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix stopped in traffic at a stoplight. The impact launched the Grand Prix into a third vehicle, which then hit a fourth. All four drivers were treated a local hospitals for what were described as minor injuries, police said.
According to the report, McVeigh staggered outside his vehicle, inside of which police recovered one empty whiskey bottle and one partially empty whiskey bottle.
A blood-alcohol test reportedly revealed that McVeigh was over three times the legal limit at .282.

Intrepid sits in Metro lot awaiting release

An officer noticed an excessively loud tan Intrepid and stopped it in the 1200 block of Oak Park Avenue. When informed of the cause of the stop, driver Henry M. Luster, 46, of Brookfield, told police he did not think the music was too loud. The Intrepid was impounded and Luster was ticketed for the noise violation, with its $500 fee and $125 tow-truck fee on top of that.
Union meeting creates dissent

Two Public Works employees worried their supervisor, after their disagreement over statements made in their union meeting led to an escalated argument outside. The supervisor called police, who spoke with the 29-year-old and 36-year-old men separately. No charges were filed.

Someone stole the top (that’s the money-stuffed part) of a parking meter in the 7100 block of Windsor, at Wisconsin. The Duncan-make meter is valued at $300, not counting the coin contents.

A woman told police she was walking to her flat in the 3200 block of Home the previous evening when a man grabbed her around the shoulders and put his head on her neck. He looked “high”, she said. When the woman screamed, the man let go and ran off. She described the strange man as a white male, mid-20s, wearing a tan T-shirt, red shorts, clean-shaven with short brown hair.

A resident of the 3500 block of Clinton complained of a whole family of opossums making their home under her porch. Police set a trap for the unwanted animals.
Mississippi-licensed driver moved to Illinois months ago

An officer saw a red 1997 Taurus sedan accelerate to a high speed to pass traffic on the right—using the parking lane—in the 6300 block of Roosevelt. When stopped, the driver produced an expired insurance card and a Mississippi driver’s license. When police asked Cordaryll D. Jones, 20, of the 400 block of north St. Louis, Chicago, whether he still resides in Mississippi, he admitted he moved to Illinois months ago. He was ticketed for improper overtaking of traffic on the right; no insurance; no license, and no seat belt.
