A Cicero man caught in the seatbelt enforcement checkpoint at 7100 Cermak also had a suspended license.
7:55 AM
The checkpoint netted a black Dodge Intrepid driven by Enrique Garcia, 35, of Chicago. He had no insurance and no driver’s license.

17-year-old Julio Parra of Lyons was caught without his seatbelt fastened and driving with his license suspended.
8:40 AM
A Romeoville man in a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta was caught without his seatbelt. His driver’s license was also found to be suspended.

The red 1992 Toyota Corolla of Cicero resident Juan C. Garcia, 33, was stopped because the driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts. When asked for his license, he could only show police his Mexican ID, so he was also charged with driving without a license.
Speeding Chicagoan stopped

An officer stopped a red Mitsubishi at Cermak and Clarence, after radar clocked it traveling 41 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. Driver Luis A. Flores, 19, of Chicago, was ticketed for speeding, having no insurance and driving with a suspended license.
A pleasant family meal

Police responded to a disturbance in the 1600 block of Euclid. There, they found a 29-year-old woman who had invited her baby’s father over for dinner. During the meal, she and the 32-year-old Cicero man argued over his alleged cheating. As the discussion grew heated, she slapped his face. He slapped hers back, then fled as she phoned police. He called while police were still on the scene but was very uncooperative. The woman was given information on obtaining an Order of Protection.
Classic car stolen

A man in the 6500 block of Ogden reported his classic gold, 1970 Buick Skylark convertible was stolen between 8 and 9 PM.
Store theft aborted

An employee of a store in the 7400 block of Cermak was alerted by a customer to the fact that a man in the rear of the shop was loading plastic bags with merchandise. She called police. When the offender saw all the employees heading for the front of the store, he dropped the loot and ran out without it. The bags dropped by the man contained several packages of candy, several containers of tire cleaner, and a number of auto air fresheners. The suspect was described by witnesses as a 6’, 200 lb. black male, wearing a black shirt, beige sweater and khakis.
Chicago man gets 5 tickets after Berwyn car accident

After an accident in the 6900 block of 26th St., driver Ubaldo Rodriquez, 36, of Chicago, was ticketed for driving without a license, having no insurance, wearing no seatbelt, following too closely and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Say cheese

An officer heard unreasonably loud music stemming from a beige 1997 Cadillac DeVille, so he stopped the car at Lombard just south of Cermak. Driver Luis Andrade, 23, of Aurora, was ticketed $500 for violating the Berwyn noise ordinance The computer name-check on Andrade showed a “gang caution” for a well-known gang. He and the Caddy were photographed and added to Berwyn’s “gang file”.
Plate and sticker stolen

A 2004 Grand Am parked in the 2100 block of Euclid had its front plate and registration sticker (from the rear plate) stolen.
Garage defaced

Acura broken into, stereo removed

A man in the 1900 block of Clarence told police he found the driver’s side window broken out of his 1991 Acura Integra, and the Pioneer in-dash stereo stolen.
Elderly lady suspects ripoff

An 85-year-old woman reported to police that she returned from her Naperville assisted-living residence to check on her house in Berwyn, in the 1600 block of Wesley. Her grandson, a 40-year-old Aurora man, was supposed to be watching it for her. But when she arrived, she found a “for sale by owner” sign in the front yard, her car missing from the garage and the house empty of furniture. The grandson does not have power of attorney, nor does he have permission to sell the house or any other property.
Loud car contains recent Tecate spill

An officer monitoring traffic near Pershing School, 3701 Scoville, at dismissal time heard loud, amplified bass coming from a black SUV. The driver, a 25-year-old man from the 3700 block of Clarence, had the noise ordinance explained to him. During the inventory search of the impounded vehicle, a strong odor of beer was evident near the driver’s seat. Police observed a foaming liquid on the driver’s floor mat, and an empty but still cold can of Tecate beer in the pocket beside the seat. The driver was cited for the noise ordinance violation and for driving in possession of open alcohol.

Second-story burglar

The owner of a house in the 3500 block of Clinton arrived home to find the place burglarized. The offender apparently used a ladder from the garage to get access to the second floor. A TV, VCR, a blanket and a pair of black shoes were stolen. Police were able to get fingerprint impressions.
Copper stolen from Concordia

A church volunteer told police he arrived at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3144 Home Avenue, to find one of its copper downspouts had been taken overnight.
Attempted car burglary

Someone tried to break into a purple Jeep in the 6900 block of 30th Place, damaging the door lock with some sharp object.
