Gang goes green

Lime green spray-painted gang stuff spoiled the appearance of a garage in the 2200 block of Ridgeland.
“No parking” rule flouted, cars towed

Nicor posted no parking signs in the 3200 block of Kenilworth, yet three cars were parked there. A black 2007 Ford 2-door, an old white Lincoln Continental and a 2000 silver Olds Intrigue were all relocated by tow truck.
Stolen Camry

The owner of a Camry reported it stolen. The 32-year-old man said he parked the car outside his residence in the 6800 block of Windsor not long after midnight. It was gone this morning. Police found no debris or other signs of forced entry. The car contained about 60 CDs.

Police checking seatbelt compliance at Ogden and Home stopped a red Ford F150 driven by a Bridgeview man. David J. Strain, 23, had a valid Irish passport but no driver’s license, and was ticketed for both He told police he had lived in the United States for over 1-1/2 years. At the same location, Forest View resident Nicholas F. Lazzara, 25, was stopped and cited for not wearing his seatbelt, as well as for driving with a suspended license. A computer check showed he was wanted in DuPage county of a DUI-related warrant, so he was taken into custody, then turned over to a DuPage deputy.

A resident who heard a crash called in a hit and run accident in the 7100 block of 34th St. He told police he saw a man and woman walking away from a maroon 2006 Chevy Cavalier in the eastbound lane. Arriving cops saw them, too. They were Lisa Marie Sanchez, 23, and Jesse M. Vargas, 21, both of Cicero. Both were positively identified by the witness. The pair told police they had been passengers in the car, driven by a man they knew only as “Brandon”, who fled the accident scene. They said his flight startled them, so they decided to flee also. A check of Vargas’s name showed he had an expired driver’s license; Sanchez had a suspended license and no insurance for the car, which was registered to her. The car was towed away, and the woman cited for having an uninsured vehicle.

Crewcut criminals fail in burglary try

A 40-year-old man from the 2500 block of Lombard called police to say minutes earlier his security alarm had alerted him to burglars in his garage. He said he looked out his back window and saw two men run out of his garage and into the alley, southbound. He described them as two white or Hispanic men, both with very short hair, wearing black T-shirts and blue gym shorts.
Glendale Heights man ticketed

A red 2006 Pontiac was observed by police as it ignored the stop at Roosevelt and Oak Park. Glendale Heights driver Joseph O. Jimenez, 22, told the officer he had no driver’s license because he had too many tickets. In fact, his license had been revoked. He was charged with disobeying the stop and driving despite the revocation of his license.
Stoned teen totes pot pipe, resists arrest

An officer in the 6300 block of 28th saw two males walking southbound in the 2700 Cuyler/Highland alley. As the officer approached, he noticed a strong odor of cannabis coming from both subjects. One was a 17-teen-year-old from the 2700 block of Highland. The second boy, also 17, lived in the 2500 block of East. He had no ID, was intoxicated and had a multicolored glass pipe of the pot-and-crack smoking variety, so he was taken into custody—but not right away. First, he spent some time resisting by pushing and pulling the officer’s hand in an effort to avoid handcuffs. When told to quit that, he disobeyed. He had to be placed on the ground to be handcuffed. He was charged with one count of resisting a peace officer, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Restaurant noise keeps citizen from sleeping

A citizen from the 3500 block of Oak Park Avenue complained to police that he was being kept awake by very loud music from Bocadillo’s, 6739 Ogden, and wished to sign a complaint. The assigned officer could hear the music before entering the restaurant, and told the 38-year-old owner/manager of Bocadillo’s to turn down the volume; she was issued a local ordinance ticket.
Other suburbs’ noisy sound systems stopped in Berwyn

Berwyn police stopped cars driven by people from Oak Park, Riverside and Burbank for violating the local noise ordinance with their extra-loud cars, impounding a silver 2006 Mazda, a 2008 Caprice and an Astro van (audible a full block away). The 17-year-old Oak Park driver had no license or insurance.

A resident of the 3100 block of Grove told police she found two paper CD holders lying on the grass beside her fence. The CD holders contained a total of 14 plastic bags of powder cocaine.

Mustang robbed of stereo components

The victim, a 23-year-old Romeoville man, said someone cut the convertible top of his 1999 Ford Mustang, which was parked in the 2100 block of Euclid. The burglar stole items with a total value of $860.
Honda harmed by brick tosser

A man called police to say someone threw a landscape brick at his Honda Civic, damaging it as it was parked in the 2500 block of Oak Park Avenue.
Lincoln blocks traffic

A white 1993 Town Car was found partly blocking traffic in the 6400 block of Cermak. The 58-year-old driver, Fernando Chavez of the 9600 block of S. Ave. “L”, Chicago, got tickets for driving on a suspended license, having no insurance and improper parking in the roadway.

A 20-year-old man driving a beige 2006 Passat told police he was sorry for his too-loud sound system after he was stopped in the 6400 block of Cermak. The Passat was impounded and the offender ticketed.
