Dumping drug bags, stuffing blunts

A contractor working on a property in the 1900 block of Grove told police he has found evidence of drug-doing there on several occasions. In the rear outside porch at that address, he found small plastic drug bags, as well as lighters and loose tobacco strewn on the ground. He was willing to sign a complaint if the culprits are caught.

An accident in the 1300 block of Ridgeland involved a Ford Taurus and an older red Toyota Corolla. One driver, 26-year-old Samyra Westbrooks of the 3300 block of west Jackson, Chicago, received tickets for lack of insurance, driver’s license not on person, and failure to yield at an intersection
More fake cash noticed entering Berwyn

A cashier at the Shell station at 6400 Ogden reported a man bought some fuel and a pack of Newports using a fake $20 bill. She described him as a white male, about 30, 5’6”, 140 lb, with short brown hair and a light goatee, wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. He left in a “very clean” red Dodge Ram with temporary plates. The bill was not proven fake until five minutes after the man left the scene.

An accident at Harlem and 26th meant tickets for the driver of a Chevy pickup, which collided with a 2005 Chevy Blazer. Rene Carmona, 23, of Cicero was cited for driving with no license, no insurance, no seatbelt and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
By golly, I can still drive and not ask that whippersnapper’s permission!

A man reported his 91-year-old dad, who had vision problems, had driven away in his 1996 Olds Cutlass the previous evening and had not come home. Home was in the 2700 block of Harvey. As police spoke with the son, the missing man drove up in the Olds. The nonagenarian told police that the previous evening he decided to drive to Wisconsin to visit his brother. He never made it, though, since he ran out of gas at 24th and Austin. The old man was in good health, clearly alert and aware. His missing persons report was accordingly removed from the state system.
Puppy stolen from own yard

Someone stole a puppy from its back yard in the 2700 block of Highland. The owner told police he let the dog out, and when he returned to call it in, the dog was gone. It was a black and white shepherd mix, only 9 months old, with a tag and microchip. Fifteen minutes after this incident, someone threw an object and broke two front windows on the same property.
You’d think residents would have caught on by now. You’d be wrong.

Police stopped a beige Chevy Blazer forcing its musical selections on people over 100 feet away as it drove near Cermak and Cuyler. The driver was a 23-year-old man from the 2300 block of Gunderson. The Blazer was impounded, and the driver put on the hook for the $500 fee associated with noise violations. Not to mention the $130 the tow company charges for SUVs.

An accident at Harvey and Cermak involved a Ford Escort and a Toyota Corolla. The Ford driver, a 45-year-old woman from the 2400 block of Grove, was cited for driving without license or insurance.
Miller time for Shell station thief

An employee of the Shell station at 7143 Roosevelt called police after a man ran into the store and stole an 18-pack of Miller Lite from the cooler. The thief ran to a waiting white Mitsubishi Galant—which was parked behind the neighboring McDonald’s—and fled. The suspect was described by the witness as a white male, 6’, 180 lbs, wearing a white shirt.
Berwyn’s second rooster in two days mellower than the first one

Police were told there was a rooster in a back yard in the 1300 block of Wenonah. They arrived to find the red-and-black male bird in back of a vacant property. The rooster was captured and taken to the A-American veterinary.
Neighbor may not be exercising custody of eyes

A 32-year-old woman from the 1600 block of Wesley reported a drunken neighbor told her to “be careful in her bathroom” because its window and one of his windows were on the same level. The woman took this to mean he was in the habit of observing her as she changed clothes.

A resident of the 2100 block of Elmwood reported someone stole her brown Waste Management trash bin. She said she had no idea why anyone would want it.

Calls came in to the police department as neighbors grew annoyed with a black Lexus circling the 3200 block of Scoville and repeatedly squealing its tires. Cops came, saw and stopped the offending car. Driver Jonathon Ramirez, 18, of the 2500 block of north Kilpatrick, Chicago, was stopped and cited for driving with no license at all, no insurance, and no front plate. An inventory of the Lexus recovered a marijuana cigarette in the car’s ashtray. The passenger, an 18-year-old man from the 3600 block of Euclid, received a $100 ticket for marijuana possession.
Solo tail light not sole violation

A black Jeep with only one working tail light was stopped in the 2100 block of Oak Park Avenue. The driver, a 23-year-old man from the 2700 block of Highland, was ticketed for the lack of a light, driving with a suspended license, no insurance, suspended plates and a kid rattling around in the car rather than secured in a carseat.
But officer, I only drove here so I wouldn’t get caught driving to court on a revoked license!

Following a traffic accident in the 3300 block of Grove, one of the drivers involved told police he was in that area waiting for a female friend to drive him to his Maybrook Court date, where he was supposed to appear in court at 1:30 PM about his driving on a revoked driver’s license. The man, a 46-year-old from the 3200 block of south Harvey, was cited for improper parking (by a fire hydrant), and improper operation of vehicle doors. After police reviewed the man’s driving record, which inspired little confidence, they got approval for a felony charge of aggravated driving with a revoked license.
