If only cars could talk

A neighbor called police to say that a 2005 Silver Acura had been parked for five days, untouched, in the 3500 block of Scoville. Police learned the car was reported stolen from Cicero. The responding officer observed what appeared to be small drops of blood scattered over the car, as well as a dent in the driver’s side door. The car, which was registered to a Chicago woman, was towed.
Woman’s composure, shop’s window, shattered at sight of rival

A report of a woman bleeding brought paramedics and police to Eva’s Beauty Salon, 6709 Ogden. The injured woman, 27, saw her boyfriend inside the salon in the company of another woman, so she entered to confront him. The boyfriend ran out. The other woman locked herself in the bathroom. From wherever he was hiding, the boyfriend contacted a second man, directing him to go to the salon and fetch the woman in the bathroom. The angry girlfriend tried to stop him and accidentally fell into the salon’s front window, breaking it. She then chased the man as he drove off in a blue Neon – she held on to the car but fell, causing her a scraped elbow and two scraped knees. The boyfriend returned to the scene and said he would pay to repair the salon window. He received information on getting an order of protection.

Unlicensed, uninsured Berwyn man involved in accident with injuries

Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to an two-vehicle accident with injuries at 23rd and Ridgeland. One driver, a 30-year-old man from the 2200 block of Clarence, had never been licensed to drive and had no insurance. After being fingerprinted, he received tickets for the above and for failing to yield at an intersection.
Chicagoan’s loud car impounded

From 200 feet away, an officer could hear the stereo system of a tan Mazda sedan as it drove eastbound in the 6200 block of Ogden. Driver Roberto C. Mendez, 30, of Chicago, had valid insurance but only an expired license. He was ticketed and the car was impounded pursuant to Berwyn’s “prohibited noises” ordinance.
String of car window vandalisms

A man living in the 6900 block of 30th reported hearing three “pops” like the noise from a paintball gun, just after midnight. This morning, he saw the driver’s side window of his Ford pickup truck broken.

An officer was flagged down by a man in the 6900 block of 29th Place. The man said that the previous night after 10 PM, he heard a loud vehicle speed past his house. This morning, he noticed his minivan had a broken rear window.

Persons unknown broke the driver’s side window of a 1997 VW 4-door parked in the 6800 block of 30th.

Teens suspected in basement booze-and-pot-party break-in

The owner of a building in the 1800 block of Oak Park Avenue told police he thinks some tenants he is evicting entered his building’s basement through a window and had a party. He showed police the basement, where they observed beer bottles on the floor and apparent marijuana residue on the window ledge. Officers spoke with the tenant, a 37-year-old man with teenage sons. The man said his sons were with him and did not do it. Police informed the man that, nevertheless, the basement will now be locked and nobody is allowed to access it.

Wanted man stopped at the tracks

A 1992 blue Ford Explorer traveling northbound on Ridgeland at Windsor failed to stop at the stop sign, and an officer stopped the car. The driver identified himself as 29-year-old Luis Hernandez of Cicero. A name check showed he had a suspended license (for a prior conviction of driving with a suspended license), was wanted by DeKalb County, and was listed with the caution “armed and dangerous”. He was arrested and charged with the above offense, as well as for wearing no seatbelt. DeKalb County was told where he was, too.
Vandals do two on one block

A Saturn 2-door and a Dodge minivan were both found with broken windows in the 6900 block of 30th.

Calumet City man caught driving with expired plates, one headlight and no license

An officer saw a black 1994 Chevy Beretta with only one headlight, traveling northbound on East with expired temporary plates. The officer curbed the car at Cermak and East. Driver Sean Claude Armstrong, 22, of Calumet City, had a license that expired in 2005. He was ticketed for all of the above and for an obstructed windshield.
Inept, both at backing up and at getting licensed in a new state

Police were sent to the scene of a car accident in the 2800 block of Home. One driver, a 31-year-old man from the 2300 block of Highland, said he was backing up when his ten-year-old Chevy Blazer struck a green 2007 Saturn. When asked for his license, the man said he only had an Indiana license that expired in 2005. He was ticketed for that and for improper backing.
Window broken but nothing else damaged

After work, a woman returning to her home in the 3600 block of Scoville found the rear window of her residence broken. The screen was intact and there was no sign of forced entry.
Driver in accident had no right to drive

There was an accident with injuries in the 1600 block of Oak Park Ave. One of the drivers, 35-year-old Rodrigo Deleon of Chicago, had a suspended license and an active warrant from Bensenville. He was ticketed for driving while his license was suspended.
More copper boldly snatched

A homeowner in the 2200 block of Oak Park Ave. reported seeing a man steal the copper downspout from his front porch, bend it, and shove it into the trunk of an older green Impala with temporary plates. The man left at a high speed. The victim described the suspect as Hispanic, about 25 years old and wearing a black baseball cap.
PM graffiti finds

An officer saw graffiti done in red marker on a 2002 Mitsubishi truck parked in Vacin Fairway, 6400 block. At Baseball Alley, 2800 East, a lot of gang graffiti was found, done in purple marker. And a garage door in the 2700 block of Grove bore gang symbols and names in black marker.

Van stereo stolen on Riverside Drive

A 23-year-old man from the 3800 block of Clinton came to the station to tell police someone broke his driver-door window overnight. The burglar stole the Pioneer in-dash stereo from his parked 2006 Chevy sedan.
