Scavengers walk right onto private property, take what they like

A woman in the 3500 block of Cuyler reported two men entered her back yard, took six large bags full of aluminum cans, placed the bags in in the rear of a dark-colored pickup truck in the alley, then drove away.

Reality sets in, car goes away

An officer could hear a blue Chevy Impala from 150 feet away without even trying, so he stopped the car in the 2300 block of Home. When advised of the nature of the stop, the driver reportedly asked, “You’re not going to impound it, are you?” Alas, the answer was “yes”. The Impala was towed and driver Geraldo Monarrez, 18, of 8704 Plainfield, Lyons, was on the hook for the $500 noise-ordinance violation ticket.

Gang graffiti and a man untroubled by bike theft

Graffiti was found on a garage door in the 2700 block of Wesley.

A Neighborhood Watch block captain discovered and reported gang graffiti on two garages in the 2200 and two more in the 2300 blocks of Scoville.

After finding graffiti on a garage in the 2200 block of Kenilworth, police spoke with the homeowner, who said he had two bicycles stolen from his property in the previous two weeks, but had not felt it necessary to report the theft.

Freaking out at McD’s

At the McDonald’s at Cermak and Ridgeland, a 66-year-old woman told police a younger woman threatened her. Witnesses said the offender appeared to be on drugs, and that she harassed the victim, shaking her fists and threatening to beat her.
Police spoke to Gloria N. Perez, 44, of 2216 Elmwood, who reportedly stated, “Arrest me! Arrest me!” The restaurant manager told police Perez has been asked to leave McDonald’s for problems on multiple past occasions. Perez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Guy gets some of his face bitten off

Police responding to a call of a disturbance in Lalo’s parking lot, 3011 Harlem, found a man and a woman there. The man, a 33-year-old Cicero resident, said he and his girlfriend went to Lalo’s, they argued and she bit him. Police could see the victim was bloody and had a chunk of skin missing from the left side of his face. Via an interpreter, the woman reportedly admitted biting the victim. Abril B. Noyola, 24, of 1526 south 51st Ct, Cicero, was arrested and charged with domestic battery.

Loud, fast and suspended

An officer saw a silver Acura, traveling 43 MPH in a 30 MPH zone, cross into oncoming lanes of traffic in order to pass another vehicle. After being pulled over at Cermak and Clarence, the driver stated he had neither license nor insurance and handed the officer a Mexican ID card instead. Felipe Tapia-Sanchez, 21, of 2320 north Harding, Chicago, actually had a suspended license. The Acura was impounded. Tapia-Sanchez was charged with driving while suspended, speeding, improper lane use, and excessive muffler noise.

In the 1300 block of East, a man returned from bowling to find one of his apartment windows open, and his $350 XBox 360 gone.

Vandals mess up cars, lousy tenants damage apartment

A man who parked his Buick sedan in the MacNeal parking lot at 3249 Oak Park reported someone vandalized the car with paint.

Two tires were cut on a Camry parked in the 1600 block of Ridgeland.

A 44-year-old Cicero man, owner of a property in the 3400 block of Oak Park, reported that, after his tenants moved out, he discovered damaged to two door locks and graffiti on a bedroom wall in the apartment.

Starving puppy dumped; loose dog captured

A woman came to the police station with a puppy she had found abandoned at Cermak and Ridgeland. The puppy, a male pitbull mix, was extremely underweight, with its rib cage visible. Police, who fed the puppy immediately, found him to be friendly and happy despite his condition. The puppy had no collar or tags; the woman said he just jumped into her car. He was taken to A-American veterinary, where he ate some more.

Callers reported two dogs at large in the 21st/Wesley/Euclid area. Police found only one dog, a grey and white male pitbull mix with a silver chain and an illegible red county tag, and took him to A-American veterinary for safekeeping.

A volunteer at St. Leonard’s Catholic church, 3318 Clarence, told police that, following 8 AM Mass, it was discovered that two guitars were missing. The guitars, most recently employed at the previous evening’s service, were left in an unlocked room. One instrument was valued at $3,000, the other at $500.

Police in the 2500 block of East saw a Chevy van with flames coming from its gas tank and the tire nearest to it. After the fire was extinguished, it was determined to have been deliberately set.
Stolen beater Caddy crashes into garage

A caller reported a driver hit his car at 21st and Clarence, so he followed the offender to the 1600 block of Euclid, where the fleeing grey 1984 Cadillac crashed into a garage. The offending driver fled on foot. The Cadillac was reported stolen out of Lombard.

Extensive gang graffiti by the usual gang of vandals

Vandals left gang graffiti—consisting of painted numbers, bunny faces, etc—on garages and a fence in the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Kenilworth; the 6800 and 6900 blocks of Riverside Drive; the 2300 block of Grove; and the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Clinton. Property at fourteen different addresses was defaced.

“Ha ha, don’t mess with Jessica!”

A man in the 2100 block of Oak Park told police a crashing sound got him out of bed. He found his front window had been broken by a thrown green glass bottle of “Miller Chill” beer. The victim ran to his back door in time to see a man, known to him only as “Larry”, who said, “Ha ha, don’t mess with Jessica!” and ran away.
