April 14, 2007, 2:13 AM
An intoxicated Glendale Heights man, age 40, has been charged with DUI, resisting an officer and operating an uninsured vehicle. The manager of White Castle, Ogden and Harlem, reported Jeff A. Bostelman pulled his black Jeep up to the order speaker, yelled into it, then started honking at the car ahead of him. Two men emerged from that car and yelled back, but left before police arrived. Bostelman then drove to the pickup window and yelled at White Castle workers, so the manager called police. An officer approached Bostelman, still at the wheel of the Jeep, and requested his license and insurance. He responded, “everything is OK.” This happened twice. The officer smelled alcohol on his breath and asked whether he had been drinking – no reply. Twice he refused to exit the Jeep. Two officers assisted him out of the car, but he resisted so they put him on the ground and took him into custody. At the station, he was irate and abusive, refusing all sobriety tests. He also refused to speak with police.

Beer-drinking puddle-makers arrested on Ridgeland
April 13, 2007, 8:23 PM
An officer saw two vehicles adjacent to each other in a business parking lot in the 2900 block of Ridgeland; the vehicles were blocking traffic access. As he approached the 1996 green Nissan Quest and the silver Chevy van, he could see a 12-pack of Modelo beer near the cars, as well as three large puddles that looked – and smelled – like urine. Both cars’ engines were off. Three men were inside the Nissan with a second 12-pack of Modelo; the officer called for backup as he approached. A strong smell of alcohol came from the car and its occupants’ breath. The men were also glassy eyed and slurred their words. When asked why they were drinking and urinating in public, the driver admitted to both and said he did not believe it was wrong to do so. Nissan driver Benjamin Rodriguez, 38, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of public intoxication. A second man, Pablo Prado-Sanchez, 36, of Chicago, said he was the driver of the Chevy; was charged with public intoxication and urination. The third man was a 39-year-old living in the 2800 block of Harlem. He was only cited for peeing. Both vehicles were towed.
