Burbank gangbanger threatens, hits, pushes, gets caught

May 26, 2007, 10:24 PM
A report of a fight in progress brought police to the 3800 block of Elmwood.  Several witnesses there told officers the occupants of a red Saturn and a white vehicle had both fled after an altercation in the street.  An 18-year-old man with a cut on his face told police the Saturn driver had yelled and threatened him, announced his gang membership and said “this nation is going to blow your house up.” Next, he allegedly punched the 18-year-old.  The victim defended himself by pushing the offender onto the Saturn’s rear window, causing it to break.  When the victim’s mother intervened, the offender reportedly pushed her.  Meanwhile, a white vehicle pulled up behind the Saturn; it was full of males shouting gang slurs.  Witnesses said they heard the offender ask for a weapon.  All the apparent gangbangers fled at the sound of police sirens.  The victim agreed to sign complaints.  Police were able to stop the Saturn, driven by a 24 year old Burbank man.

False promise to turn down the sound leads to noise tickets

May 26, 2007, 10:28 PM
Police received many calls complaining of very loud music from a party in the 1500 block of Home.  The 32-year-old homeowner had hired a DJ for his party, which featured outdoor speakers set up in the backyard.  When police arrived, both the homeowner and the 24-year-old DJ agreed to lower the volume.  But only 20 minutes later, the noise started up again—and so did calls to police.  Arriving for the second time, officers heard extremely loud music from the DJ’s speakers.  Having been warned only minutes before, both homeowner and DJ got tickets for violating the prohibited noise ordinance.

A woman in the 2600 block of Ridgeland told police a growling black dog charged at her in the alley as she took out her trash, so she hit it with the trash bag and ran into her garage.  She got into her vehicle and drove toward the dog, who charged at it with bared teeth.  Two officers were able to herd the dog into a fenced yard.  The animal—possibly a pitbull/labrador mix—then charged at police, who were only able to catch the dog after using a Taser to stun it.
