December 1, 2008, 6:40 PM

Friday nights are my night to drink

November 29, 2008, 2:53 AM
After a hit-and-run crash in the 2100 block of Oak Park, police stopped the offending vehicle, a Jeep, at 16th and Oak Park.  The driver, who was highly intoxicated, was taken by ambulance to MacNeal hospital.

The Jeep struck a parked Mustang on the east side of the 2100 block of Oak Park.  The impact shoved the Mustang into a Chevy Avalanche, which in its turn hit a Plymouth van.  The Jeep then apparently reversed, striking a Cadillac Escalade on the west side of the street.  A passenger in the Jeep had to be extricated by Berwyn firemen.  The Jeep was impounded.

Police spoke to Jeep driver Jacqueline Campanile, 44, of 1443 Kenilworth.  Campanile told police she drank four or five Corona beers at Cabin Fever, reportedly adding “Friday nights are my night to drink.  I know I’m buzzed and I have to take responsibility for my actions.” Campanile’s blood alcohol level was .184, more than twice the legal limit.  She was charged with DUI, DUI with blood-alcohol over .08, improper lane use, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police charged Rafael Alvarado, Jr., 18, with domestic battery, resisting an officer, consumption of alcohol by a minor and damage to a city vehicle.
