Headbutt saves woman from armed robber

May 26, 2007, 2:06 PM
A 50-year-old Cicero woman told Berwyn police a man tried to rob her at knife point at 1 AM.  She said she was about to pump gas into her car at the station at 1600 S. Ridgeland, when a man in a white vehicle parked on the other side of the pump.  As she prepared to swipe her credit card, the man came from behind her and held a knife to her neck as he tried to take the card.  The woman hit him by smashing him in the face with her head, causing the offender to release her and flee.  She could only describe him as a short, heavy white male with curly hair.

Fights apparently satisfactory to all participants

May 26, 2007, 3:09 AM
Police arrived at the 7-11 parking lot at Oak Park and 26th on reports of a fight in progress.  They saw two females chase a 33-year-old woman around a car, then start to fight.  As this fight was being broken up, officers noticed two men start their own fight.  A 26-year-old Berwyn man took off his shirt and threatened a 20-year-old Elmwood Park man.  Everyone else fled the scene as backup arrived.  The Elmwood Park man, Carlos Arce, said he was inside 7-11 when a man in the store asked “What are you looking at?” Arce responded “I ain’t looking at you, bitch.” Two men then jumped him, so Arce called friends to join the fight.  Others involved were three 19-year-old females and one 18-year-old male.  After all this hullabaloo, not one person would sign a complaint.
