Restaurant cited for noise violation

After complaints from nearby residents, police went to Mariscos Acapulco, 6326 Cermak, and issued a noise-violation ticket to owner Margarito Rodriguez, 41.

TVs taken by burglar

A man came home to the 1800 block of Kenilworth, found the door standing open and called police. Police found that both bedrooms in the residence had been ransacked. An entertainment center in the living room was lying on the floor. A 42” plasma TV and a 32” TV were stolen.
No license? Drive my loud car anyway

An officer stopped an older Nissan at East and 16th because of its very large, loud muffler. The driver, Ramiro Hernandez, 25, of 1643 Ridgeland, told police he did not have his license on him. In fact, it had been suspended, so the car was impounded. The owner of the car, 24-year-old David Hernandez of the same address, told police he knew his brother had lost his driving privileges, but nevertheless allowed him to drive. David Hernandez was charged with permitting an unauthorized person to drive. Ramiro Hernandez was charged with driving a car with a loud muffler and tinted front windows.

Man found with cocaine in emergency room

After a Chicago fire department ambulance brought a man to the MacNeal hospital emergency room, police and hospital security conducted an inventory of his clothing. John Smith, 56, of 4604 south Leamington, Chicago, was reportedly found to have two plastic bags of cocaine in his pocket and a third in his sock. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Staggering down Main Street, I and II; encore performances both

Callers complained of a man drinking in the 6500 block of Cermak, and responding police located Lawrence J. Randa*, 42, of 5819 west 16th, Cicero. Randa was drinking alcohol from a clear container while on the public parkway. Police reported he smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was having trouble standing. Randa’s public intoxication arrest must have felt like déjà vu, since he was arrested for the same reason at more or less the same location less than 48 hours earlier.

An intoxicated man inspired calls to police. Officers came to the 6300 block of Cermak, where they encountered Robert Hull, Jr.**, 34, of 1302 Ridgeland. Hull was drinking alcohol on the public way, and appeared drunk to police. He was arrested for public intoxication.

Criminal damage to Nissans, house

In the 1500 block of Maple, a 2008 Nissan SUV was found with a dented door and a broken windshield-wiper arm. In the 2400 block of Gunderson, someone with a brick broke two windows of a Nissan sedan.

Alley-lurker was wanted for Chicago assault

Callers reported a suspicious man in the 1200 block of Maple/Harlem alley. Responding officers found and arrested 55-year-old Roger G. Dziadkowiec, homeless. A check of his name revealed an active arrest warrant out of Chicago related to a charge of aggravated assault.

Burglars stopped in mid-attempt, escape empty-handed

A man in the 2600 block of Harvey noticed a light on in his garage. Thinking his elderly father might be there, he went out to investigate and found the garage service door open. Inside the garage, a strange man sat in Dad’s car; a second stranger stood beside the car. When the homeowner asked “What are you doing?” the two intruders fled through the open overhead door, running south through the 2600 block of Harvey/Highland alley. The homeowner described the offenders as two male whites wearing jackets; the one seen in Dad’s car was 5’10” to 6 ft tall, with short hair and a leather jacket; the homeowner told police he can identify the man. A toolbox and a bicycle, found outside the garage, should have been inside it, according to Dad.

Fight-pickers show guns, one victim won’t talk about it

Police were sent to a restaurant at 6831 Ogden on reports of a fight and men displaying guns. When officers arrived, a man inside the entrance silently pointed northward to indicate the directions in which the offenders fled. Inside the restaurant, the first victim told police two men “pulled a gun” on him. He said they tried to pick a fight, getting up from their table and approaching him and a companion at his. Both men reportedly displayed handguns, then ran out and headed north. The victim grew uncooperative and refused to give additional information, pronouncing it “a waste of time”. But his companion, a 25-year-old Cicero man, was able to describe the offenders. He said they were two male Hispanics, both about 5’10” and 180 lbs, wearing jeans and toting gun; one man wore a white hoodie, the other a black one.

Hickory Hills men fight in Berwyn, but victim is forgiving type

Police, called to a fight in the 3400 block of Wesley, saw two men pushing and pulling each other. One man, bleeding from the mouth, told police the other man slugged him, but he refused to sign a battery complaint against his friend. Tadeusz John-Ciezczak, 23, and Anthony Schmakel, 23, both of Hickory Hills, were charged with disorderly conduct.

Neighbor alerts victim to auto burglary

The victim, a 26-year-old Peoria man in Berwyn for a visit to his dad in the 7000 block of 27th, was alerted to the incident by a neighbor. The neighbor saw the victim’s car with its trunk open. The victim found he was missing a GPS unit, a satellite radio, a CD/stereo, an IPod video and a pair of sunglasses.

Angry ex blamed for damage; party hostess fails to back up guest’s claim

Police were called to a party in the 1800 block of Gunderson, west side, where a 29-year-old man complained his white 2008 Chevy sedan had been vandalized. The victim, a Bellwood man, told police the ex-boyfriend of the hostess had damaged his windshield. According to the victim, the ex arrived, got mad at the victim and appeared to believe the victim was now “with” the hostess.
The hostess, on the other hand, told police her ex never was at the party and added that she did not see him damage the car, either.

No valet parking license

An officer in the 6700 block of Ogden saw employees of “Skylite Valet” parking vehicles for LaQuinta, a bar/restaurant at 6739 Ogden. The cars were being parked in a lot on the south side of the street. Owner Juan Martin Reyes, 35, of Naperville, told police he had no license for valet parking and was issued a citation.
