Argument deteriorates when man grabs butter-knife

April 25, 2007, 1:23 AM
A disturbance in the 1200 block of Oak Park Avenue turned out to be a fight over money between two roommates who had both been drinking.  The men, ages 48 and 39, argued over bills until older man hit the younger in the face.  The older man says he did it in self defense, as the younger roommate was drunk and holding a butter knife.  Police could see the butter knife lying on the floor. Domestic violence packets were issued to both, and neither would sign a complaint.
3:00 AM: Police got another call about a disturbance at the same address.  The butter-knife wielder was still drunk and loud.  A taxi arrived and took him to his sister’s place.

Fake narcotic prescriptions caught by pharmacy

April 25, 2007, 9:22 AM
The manager of the Walgreen’s pharmacy, 6800 Ogden, reported to Berwyn police the pharmacy had received three bogus prescriptions for a controlled substance, supposedly from the same doctor’s office in the 4500 block of south State St., Chicago. The manager contacted the doctor, who denied issuing the three prescriptions for a nasal spray of the substance “Stadol,” a highly addictive narcotic pain reliever.  The first order, issued to the name of a man in Maywood, had already been picked up.  The second was for a woman in Countryside, and the third for a man living in the 6200 block of Cermak.  Neither of those had been picked up.  The manager flagged all of that doctor’s controlled-substance prescriptions for verification.  He told police he will try to find surveillance video of the person who picked up the first prescription.
