No lights, no license, no insurance

AN officer in the 6500 block of Cermak stopped a 2005 Honda sedan for driving without headlights. The driver, a 23-year-old woman from the 1500 block of Clarence, was cited for that and for having no license or insurance.

Police in the 1800 block of Grove found a black Chevy van with one window broken out, and contacted the owner. The owner said his stereo had been stolen from the truck.
Golf-club wielding gangbangers alleged

Police were sent to a gas station to speak with a reported battery victim, a 16-year-old boy from the 1300 block of Maple. The boy told police he and some friends were walking near 14th and Harlem when some guys jumped out a red Saturn yelling gang slogans, then charged at the boys with golf clubs. The boy said the driver looked Asian and the passengers appeared Hispanic. One victim had a cut, bleeding head. Another 16-year-old had a bump on his head, and a fourth victim—a Maywood 17-year-old—said he had been stabbed.
Chicago man gets tickets in Berwyn accident

Efrain Obispo, 35, of Chicago, received tickets for improper backing and driving without a valid license, following an accident in the 7100 block of Ogden.
Loose Husky trails leash

A black and white male Husky was found at large at 15th and East. It wore a white, green and red collar and a red leash, but had no tags.
Gang loitering

When two men standing in the middle of 38th Street at Elmwood noticed police approaching, they started to walk away in different directions, but were stopped by the officers. They were a 15-year-old boy and 23-year-old Balois Antunez of Cicero. The juvenile had a pocket knife in his hand. When asked why, he said he feared the man was going to jump him. A patdown revealed a marijuana cigarette in the boy’s pocket, so he got a $100 possession ticket. Antunez was charged with gang loitering; police had previously warned him not to hang around that area.
Hit and run involves child

An 11-year-old boy tried to cross 18th at Gunderson when he was struck by a westbound truck, which fled the scene.
Six houses away is way too loud

An officer stopped a 2005 black Dodge truck as it traveled northbound in the 2200 block of Ridgeland blasting its sound system in violation of the noise ordinance. It was impounded and the driver, a 25-year-old man from the 1500 block of Highland, got a $500 ticket.
Cicero boys age 12 and 13 try out Berwyn car burglary

Police found a man with a 13-year-old Cicero boy in custody in the 2900 block of Ridgeland. The man told police he chased this boy and another about the same age after they tried to break into a Nissan sedan, leaving lots of fingerprints in the process. The captured boy helpfully told police the Cicero address of his accomplice, another 13-year-old, and was given 16 hours of community service. Police contacted the second boy’s mom, who came to the station. There, she became upset when officers showed her the boy’s backpack full of gang memorabilia. The boy told police he broke into the car because he “thought it was cool.” The officers advised the mom to connect the boy with Youth In Crisis, but she said he had already spent a year seeing a counselor there. The boy was told to seek further counseling, do 16 hours of community service and observe an 8:30 PM curfew the rest of the summer.

The skate park at 1500 Maple was found with black-marker graffiti all over the place. There was also gang graffiti in the 2800 block of Home.
Noise prevention

Police impounded a black 1994 Ford pickup truck because it was violating the local noise ordinance in the 6800 block of Cermak.
Man conducts self in ever-more disorderly manner

Police visited the scene of a domestic disturbance between a couple in the 3400 block of Cuyler, only to return 20 minutes later when the 24-year-old man involved began walking down the street yelling “whoever called police better go f*** yourself!” One neighbor came out and asked him not to swear where kids could hear him, but the 24-year-old refused. Police arrested him for disorderly conduct.
Lyons teens cut classes at Proksa

A concerned citizen told police there were juveniles on benches at Proksa park, smoking pot. Police found some teens by the tennis courts. Three were juveniles, cutting classes at Morton West High School. Two were returned to the high school; one 16-year-old was taken home to his mom. All three got tickets for violating the daytime curfew.
Firemen rescue man trapped under trash truck

Fire personnel had to extricate 40-year-old Rigoberto Guzman of Chicago when he became pinned beneath the front axle of a Waste Management garbage truck in the 3700 block of Cuyler/Ridgeland alley. He had several broken ribs. Witnesses told police a woman was driving the truck. The woman, 31-year-old Taronn M. Fizer of Country Club Hills, told police she was not really but just “kind of “ driving: Guzman would load the trash in back of the vehicle and Fizer would move the truck forward at low speeds. Fizer was cited for driving with a suspended license. Guzman was ticketed for allowing an unauthorized person to drive.
Broomstick battery denied

An engaged couple in the 2200 block of Scoville had a fight that drew police attention. The man reported the woman kept whacking him with a broom handle. The woman would only admit to slapping him because, she said, he swore at her. She agreed to leave with their two infants.
