Stickney man stopped for signal omission

Hector I. Montes, 32, of Stickney, was stopped in the 6300 block of Ogden for not using his turn signal. He was cited for not signaling a lane change, not wearing a seat belt, driving without a license and no proof of insurance.
Episcopal church reports series of burglary attempts

The daycare director at St. Michael and All Angels church, 6732 34th St., told police someone tried to force the door handle of the parish house. Church personnel wanted police to be aware that several previous attempts had been made but not reported.
Speeding car impounded for noise

An officer could hear the sound system of a Mercury Marquis from many car lengths behind it as it sped 46 MPH in a 30 MPH zone on Ogden. The driver, a 36-year-old man from the 1900 block of Gunderson, got both a speeding and a noise ordinance ticket. The Merc was towed.

Intoxicated man found on ground

Police found 44-year-old Cicero resident Robert Flores lying on his back on the grass at the corner of East and 23rd in a highly intoxicated condition. He was taken to MacNeal Hospital.

The Piper School playground, 2435 Kenilworth, was found vandalized with graffiti done in black marker.

Three Berwyn men caught crossing tracks with the gates down

Three Berwyn men got tickets for violating railroad safety by crossing the tracks and ignoring the bells, flashing lights and lowered gates. Two crossed at Oak Park and Windsor, and one crossed at Grove and Windsor.
Suspicious cyclist

Dispatchers sent police to check out a man on a bicycle hanging out near parked cars at 15th and Gunderson. Officers found the man was wanted for assault by state police. They detained the 24-year-old, who is a resident of the 1500 block of Euclid.
Arrest protested with profanity, shirtlessness

Callers reported a woman screaming near Gunderson and Cermak, where police found 41-year-old Ruby McGee of Chicago sitting on a bench with a beer. She verbally abused the officers, using threats and profanity. McGee then removed her shirt and began to yell and scream. Police noticed she smelled strongly of alcohol. McGee resisted being handcuffed, and was given three tickets for disorderly conduct.

First impounded truck of the day

A concerned citizen reported an excessively loud Dodge Ram pickup. Police located the offending truck in the 2600 block of Ridgeland, ticketed the 26-year-old owner, and had the truck towed away.
Chunk of cement vs glass

A resident of the 6400 block of 28th Place reporting hearing breaking glass and a departing car before discovering a broken front window.
High school student’s car set afire

An unoccupied black Chevy Cavalier was found on fire in the 3700 block of Elmwood. The 17-year-old driver reported seeing three males get out of a black vehicle parked near hers and gather around it; she also noticed a 17-year-old girl sitting in that black vehicle. The Cavalier driver went to call police. When she returned, the Cavalier was on fire and the other car and its occupants were gone.

A resident of the 1300 block of Gunderson reported finding his rear door’s handle broken and the door slightly open.
Heroin user helped after seizure

A Palatine resident who had a seizure in the 7100 block of Cermak told paramedics he had used heroin before becoming ill. He was taken to MacNeal Hospital for treatment.
Flaming car on Ogden doused

The driver of a tan minivan smelled something burning, and pulled over in the 6900 block of Ogden, where flames were visible under the hood. The fire was extinguished by Berwyn firefighters.
Red Rover pulled over, tow driver takes over

An officer stopped a red Land Rover with expired license plates in the 1300 block of Ridgeland. The driver, a 33-year-old man from the 1900 block of Euclid, was cited for the expired registration and for driving without license or insurance.
