Chicago teen blows through red light; lacks license, insurance

A woman in a white 1995 Jeep ignored a red light at 26th and Highland and was pulled over.  Driver Maria Elia Del Villar Villanueva, age 18, of Chicago, had no license and no insurance. She was ticketed and the Jeep was towed.

Them’s fightin’ words

Police were called to a flight at Alfonzie’s, 3243 Harlem. They found a man standing outside bleeding from his head.  The man, a Chicagoan age 25, said he was drinking at the bar when a guy he’d never seen before broke a bottle over his head.  The alleged offender, another Chicago man age 35, said the first man called him a “bitch” a bunch of times, so he whacked him one.  Three witnesses agreed the victim’s big mouth provoked the assault.

Random vandalism

A woman living in the 3100 block of Euclid got home from work and found a green 1995 Subaru sedan parked on her block with its front driver’s side window broken.  While police were on the scene, the Subaru owner appeared and confirmed nothing was missing from within the car.  She had no idea who might have done the damage, or why.

Panhandling loiterers told: begone

A patrol officer saw two men loitering at Roosevelt and Harlem; one was approaching cars with a Dunkin Donuts cup and soliciting money from drivers.  The two a 35-year-old from Summit and an Oak Park man, age 28.  Both were ticketed for loitering and told not to return to the intersection.

A Toyota eastbound on 28th from Ridgeland turned left onto Cuyler without yielding to oncoming traffic.  The driver, a Cicero man, has a suspended license.

Yield or be ticketed

An officer saw a Ford Explorer zip through the intersection of 27th and Harvey at a high rate of speed, not yielding to cars or pedestrians.  When stopped, the driver, a 25-year-old Cicero man, stated he has no license or insurance. Tickets for no license, no insurance and no yielding were issued to him.

Unlicensed, uninsured driver finds stopping optional

A Cicero man driving a white minivan proceeded past a stop sign without stopping at Ridgeland and 30th.  The driver, age 25, told the officer who pulled him over that he had no driver’s license or insurance, only a Mexican ID.  The car was towed and he received three citations.

Man ignores “no left turn” sign, driver’s license renewal notice

Local complaints about cars turning left onto East from Dunkin Donuts and the alley behind it led to an officer monitoring the situation at Cermak and East.  Both the alley and the outlet of the drive-thru lane have posted “NO LEFT TURN” signs.  The officer stationed there saw a 2003 Chevy Impala emerge eastbound from the alley behind Dunkin Donuts and make the illegal left turn, disobeying the posted sign.  The driver, a 23-year-old man, produced an expired insurance card and stated he has no license.  He had a license, once, but it expired over five years ago.  The car was towed.

Gunshots reported but unfounded

A man in the 6500 block of 16th told police he heard two loud noises that sounded like gunshots in a nearby apartment.  No other residents heard anything, and nobody seemed to be in the apartment in question.

Auto parts harvested from new car

The manager of a car dealership in the 6500 block of Ogden told police a porter washing new cars noticed the chrome fog-light inserts on a 2007 Ford Futura had been removed by some unknown person.

Impound for loud sound

An officer in the 6700 block of 21st noticed a white 2004 Hyundai Sonata with an excessively loud sound system and a driver without a seatbelt.  The 28-year-old driver also had a suspended license.  He was charged with all three infractions and the Hyundai, now quiet, was towed.
