Berwyn Police Blotter

You’re not allowed to drive just because your boss hands you the keys

June 9, 2007
An officer in the 6900 block of Roosevelt saw two dump trucks, only one of which had a safety sticker.  The one with the sticker had a driver with no license, as well as front and back license plates that did not match.  While police spoke with the unlicensed driver, the other driver—Jose L. Carreno, 37, of Melrose Park—explained that his brother owns a concrete company and allowed unlicensed Jorge Gutierrez, 30, also of Melrose Park, to drive the truck.  Carreno was cited for permitting an unauthorized person to drive.  Gutierrez received tickets for improper use of registration, no safety sticker, and driving without a license.
