Berwyn Police Blotter

You can barely turn your back on your lawnmower for fear of thieves

September 11, 2008, 12:34 PM
A man in the 1300 b lock of Gunderson had just finished cutting his law and brought the mower to the alley in preparation for returning it to the garage. He encountered a man—and a van with an open rear door—by the mower.  The homeowner said, “That’s mine”.  The stranger stated he thought it was junk, then apologized and closed the door of his van.  Satisfied, the victim went inside his house.  In less than a minute, he returned to find both the van and the mower gone.

The victim said the van was a dark blue newer, possibly Chevy, conversion van. The thief, he said, was a male Hispanic around age 40, with black hair and goatee but no mustache; 200 lbs, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.  A woman was in the van’s front seat.
