Berwyn Police Blotter

Woman serving as designated driver hits two cars

April 7, 2007, 9:46 PM
A man in the 2400 block of Oak Park Avenue heard a crash and looked out the window to see a red Jeep had struck his parked car and another one.  The Jeep then backed up and fled southbound on Oak Park Avenue.  The Jeep’s front bumper, complete with Illinois license plate, was found in the 2600 block of Oak Park.  Police found the driver, a 20-year-old Cicero woman; she said she was driving the Jeep because she and two males had been at a party and they had been drinking.  When she hit the two cars, she got scared and drove away.  She appeared to police to be sober.  The two men, a 24-year-old from Hoffman Estates and a 20 -year-old from Palatine, seemed very drunk.  Driver Linda Cardenas was charged with failure to reduce speed, failure to give information after striking another vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol by passengers, no insurance, and no driver’s license on her person.
