Berwyn Police Blotter

Woman owns car, not license

April 26, 2007, 2:55 AM
An officer patrolling Cermak Road at 10 MPH, looking for broken windows, noticed an odd thing.  A green 1997 Chevy Cavalier was right behind him, also going 10 MPH – for four blocks.  Since the limit is 25 MPH, this seemed suspicious.  The officer maneuvered behind the car and ran the plates, learning that the car was listed as stolen.  Several police cars converged at Oak Park Avenue and Cermak to stop the driver, 19-year-old Desire D. Clay, of Chicago.  She was in fact the owner of the Chevy; Chicago police had not yet removed the “stolen” designation from the system.  However, a name check of Ms. Clay showed she had no valid license to drive, so she was ticketed and the car was towed.
