Berwyn Police Blotter
Wednesday’s excessively-loud cars get impounded
September 5, 2007, 9:05 AM
A red Buick sedan violated Berwyn’s noise ordinance when it could be heard at a distance of 250 feet in the 6900, 7000 and 7100 blocks of Cermak. Police gave the $500 ticket to driver Jose A. Torres, 21, of the 1900 block of East Avenue.
9:57 AM
Less loud but still too loud was a black Impala, audible at 175 feet throughout the 3600, 3500, 3400, 3300 and 3200 blocks of Harlem. The ticket went to driver Jovan A. Washington, 27, of the 4400 block of south Lawler, Chicago.
9:05 PM
An officer noticed and stopped an extremely loud white Chevy van in the 2700 block of East. It could be heard easily from 125 feet away, and even more easily from the squad car parked behind it. While the officer was contacting the police station about the incident, the driver continued to play his stereo so loudly that the officer had to tell him to turn the thing down. The van was towed away. The $500 citation was given to Rafael A. Ortiz, 18, of Villa Park.
