Valet parking: less secure than one might imagine
April 18, 2008, 10:18 PM
A woman who went to a restaurant in the 6500 block of Cermak at 8:50 PM sent her Chevy Silverado off for valet parking. When she emerged at 10 PM, the valet told her “something happened” to the truck, which now had a broken window and the stereo and kicker box lying on the front seat. The valet, a 19-year-old Grayslake man, said he was walking toward the truck to retrieve it for the owner, when he saw a man inside the vehicle. When the man saw the valet, he fled to a silver conversion van occupied by a second man. The van took off. The valet described both men as Hispanic; he said the one messing with the woman’s truck was bald, 5’8” and 170 lbs, wearing baggy pants and a white T-shirt.
