Berwyn Police Blotter

Unpaid-for shoes only get a few blocks away from store

November 7, 2008, 11:56 AM
A call informed police that a man stole a pair of shoes from Shoe Carnival in Cermak Plaza, then fled in a silver Dodge Avenger bearing an Illinois plate.  Police caught up with the car at Cermak and East, where they arrested driver Damion D. Roy, 29, of 4337 west 21st, Chicago.  The store manager positively identified Roy as the offender.  Roy reportedly told police he stole the $100 pair of Timberlands because he intended to sell them.  A check of Roy’s name revealed he had been driving on a suspended license, so the car was impounded.  Roy, who was free on bond from a robbery charge, was charged with driving while suspended and retail theft.
