Berwyn Police Blotter

Unpaid Bensenville-to-Berwyn fare ends in theft charge

January 30, 2008, 10:32 PM
A cabb driver called police from 23rd and Ridgeland to report a theft of service.  The cabbie said he drove a man from Bensenville to the 2200 block of Ridgeland.  The man got out, greeted a waiting woman with a hug, and walked away with her.  The cabbie, who had not been paid the $35 fare, said he yelled after the man but was ignored.  Police chats with various witnesses led them to a man behind Hollywood Video at Ridgeland and Cermak; the cabbie positively identified Richard W. Rauhula, 41, of Bensenville, as his passenger.  Rauhula was charged with theft of service.
