Teacher calls police, says man asked students to “come here”

May 9, 2008, 10:04 AM
A call about a suspicious person brought police to the southwest corner of 16th and Gunderson, where stood Kevin John Brown, 42, of Romeoville.  Asked why he was in town, Brown told police he had been visiting a friend in the 1800 block of Gunderson and came to the corner to use the phone.  He said he first tried a phone at 16th and Ridgeland but it was not working.  He said he walked west on 16th after that; once he was in front of Lincoln Middle School, he said, he saw students but did not address them.  But a concerned teacher told police he said “hey, come here,” to students.  Brown received a citation for disorderly conduct, and was advised to leave and not return.
