Berwyn Police Blotter

Suspicious man asks for ride to strange place

April 26, 2008, 12:21 AM
A man told police he was stopped at the red light at the Harlem/Ogden intersection when a man hopped into his car, placed $200 on the seat, and told the victim to drive him to “King’s Inn.” The victim then drove into the parking lot of White Castle, where they saw a second man who limped and carried a briefcase.  The passenger indicated the second man and said, “Ask this guy, he might know where it’s at.” The victim, smelling a setup, told the passenger, “Hold on while I get something out of the trunk.” The passenger asked, “What are you getting?”, then hopped out, taking the $200 with him.  Next, the victim saw a black SUV with out of state registration leaving the White Castle lot, northbound on Harlem.  The victim told police the man with the $200 was a male black with a Jamaican accent, 6’ tall, age 40 to 50, in tan pants and a brown skullcap.  The man with briefcase, the victim said, was grey-haired and in his 50s.
