Summit man says he was quizzed, battered by trio

September 12, 2007, 1:30 PM
A police sergeant found a 19-year-old battery victim walking at 24th and Elmwood.  According to the Summit resident, he was walking southbound on the 2200 block of Elmwood, west side, when he saw a group of males in front of a house.  One asked him for a cigarette, to which he replied he had none.  The man then asked the Summit man, “Who do you belong to?” and punched him in the face.  At this, the Summit man knocked the stranger to the ground.  Two other males began to punch the Summit man, then fled.  The victim told police he has seen the same men standing in front of another house across the street in the same block.  He described the attackers as male Hispanics; the one who asked for a smoke was 18 or 19, 5’8”, 140, with short black hair and a white T-shirt.  The second was 16 or 17, same height and weight, in a black sweatshirt; the third appeared to be 16, only 5"6", with black hair and a white T-shirt.
