Stick-wielding men come to woman’s defense

March 29, 2008, 7:18 PM
In the 2100 block of Wesley, an officer responding to a battery in progress encountered two men holding wooden sticks as they yelled and screamed at a third man.  The third man, a 45-year-old from the 2700 block of Clarence, was accused of grabbed a woman—his fiancee—by the throat and shoving her to the ground, then grabbing a crowbar and threatening to smash her windshield.  The other men, one of whom was the woman’s nephew, were defending her from him.  The attacker was charged with domestic battery.
