Berwyn Police Blotter

Spongebob Swearpants

October 9, 2008, 4:28 PM
Dispatchers told police to look for a man in a blue SpongeBob jacket in connection with a disturbance in the 1800 block of Kenilworth.  The watch commander located a man matching the description; he was at the opening of the 1800 block of Kenilworth/Grove alley. He was Anthony J. Wilson, 18, of 229 14th, Maywood. Police detained Wilson, who stated had gotten into a verbal altercation with someone in the neighborhood, then went looking for his girlfriend at her new place.  Wilson told police he rang the wrong doorbell, which was answered by the man he had argued with.  Wilson claimed the man yelled racial slurs at him, so he pushed him away.

The man who called police in the first place told them his doorbell rang; he opened it and saw Wilson, who was unknown to him.  The victim said Wilson yelled at him and demanded to know who he was, then swore at him and shoved him in the chest.  Wilson was charged with battery.
