Screaming junkie bites cop during laundromat disturbance

September 20, 2007, 9:15 AM
The manager of World’s Largest Laundromat, 6240 Cermak, sounded the hold-up alarm when a woman got out of control at the front counter.  Arriving police recognized the woman - a 32-year-old form the 2100 block of Highland, as a known drug addict.  The woman was extremely agitated and appeared to be going through withdrawal.  Because she could not be calmed, police summoned an ambulance.  The woman became violent. She screamed, kicked, and bit one officer in the hand.  The woman had to be cuffed to the stretcher in order to get her MacNeal Hospital emergency room for treatment.  The bitten officer signed complaints of battery and resisting arrest against the woman.
