Random check: wrong plates in use

November 5, 2007, 8:09 AM
An officer randomly ran the plates on a black Ford Ranger truck at Roosevelt and Gunderson, and learned they were actually registered to a 1986 Chevy pickup. Driver Jorge Soto, 19, of the 2700 block of Homan, Chicago, told police that when his temporary registration expired, he simply took his aunt’s license plates and attached them to his truck.  The truck was towed.  Soto was charged with driving unlicensed, no valid plates, failure to transfer title, and improper use of registration.
