Purloined debit card wasted on fast food

July 3, 2008, 3:43 PM
A woman told police she ordered $7 worth of food at the drive-thru at Burger King, Oak Park and Cermak, the previous afternoon.  This morning, she said, she realized her debit card was gone, so she checked her account online and saw an unauthorized purchase, also at Burger King, of $20.98.  The woman reported she called the bank and canceled the debit card.  She then returned to the restaurant, where the person she spoke with would tell her only the first name of the person who worked the drive-thru the previous day.  The worker she spoke with provided the woman with cash restitution of $20.98, but could not produce the debit card.
