Powerful drug found after stop of suspicious van

May 16, 2008, 8:30 PM
Callers reported a suspicious white van in the 6700 block of Ogden, with two women and a man inside.  When the responding officer activated the lights on his marked squad car, the van went in reverse, then stopped.  When he asked driver Irma Villalobos, 41, of Burbank, to show her license and registration, she stared in a confused manner.  When asked a second time, the driver gazed to her right, then back at the officer.  Villalobos had a suspended license and appeared intoxicated.  The van was impounded and she was taken into custody.  In the lockup, a search of her person by a female officer recovered a brown vial inside Villalobos’s bra.  When opened, the vial emitted a strong odor police recognized as that of liquid phencyclidine or “PCP”; the contents later tested positive for the substance.* Villalobos was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, as well as DUI, driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance.
