Pot bust during seatbelt stop

June 6, 2007, 8:23 AM
A man in a tan Cadillac was stopped at 30th and Oak Park for not wearing his seatbelt.  The 25-year-old man, who lives in the 1900 block of Oak Park, did not have his license with him, though ihis license proved to be valid.  A computer check of the man’s name, however, revealed a warning that he was a street gang member.  The driver was asked to get out of the car.  A patdown revealed a bag of marijuana in the man’s pants pocket, with a total weight of 5 grams.  The offender got a ticket for possession, which he paid in full.
