Pizzas cool down during traffic stop

June 28, 2008, 9:45 PM
Police at Wesley and Ogden stopped a green Ford Explorer with dealer plates for doing 43 MPH in a 30 MPH zone. The driver, when asked to show license and proof of insurance, told the officer he had neither on him and was additionally in a hurry to deliver pizzas for work.  When the officer tried to conduct a name check, he was impeded because of the false name and birth date initially provided by the driver.  A search of the subject recovered several traffic tickets in his back pocket, enabling the officer to learn the driver was 29-year-old Arellano F. Gaspar of the 3100 block of west 39th Place, Chicago.  Gaspar’s license was suspended for DUI a few months earlier, so the SUV was impounded.  Gaspar was cited for speeding, illegal use of a dealer plate, no insurance and driving despite a suspended license.
