Berwyn Police Blotter

Pitbull trapped in feces-filled flat without food, water

September 30, 2007, 4:15 PM
Neighbors told police a dog had been left alone for two weeks on the second floor of a vacant two-flat in the 3800 block of Grove.  Police could see a brown and white pitbull standing up and barking through an open window in the building.  Mail had stacked up in the mailbox; a “FOR SALE” sign was found in the back yard.  One of the second-floor windows had no screen.  Witnesses said the owner, Guillermo Trejo, moved out weeks ago.  Berwyn firemen made a forced entry to secure the dog.  Once inside, police and fire personnel found the upstairs flat vacant.  The dog had no food and no water.  Dog feces were all over the apartment.  The pitbull was taken to A-American veterinary for safekeeping.
