Dog chained without food or water, owner uncooperative
October 2, 2007, 10:45 AM
Police came to the 1300 block of Clinton to check out complaints of a dog locked in a garage that had been barking for two days. Police and fire personnel found the pitbull/mastiff-mix dog, chained and locked inside the garage, barking violently. A look through the window showed the dog had no food, water or ventilation; a large amount of dog feces littered the garage floor. Firemen were able to get into the garage and rescue the dog, which was taken to A-American for safekeeping. The house was in the process of being sold, and appeared vacant. Police called the realtor, Claudia Valdovinos, who stated she had the owner’s number but would not give it to police. Eventually, police received a call from the owner, Octavio Padilla, 30. Police described Padilla was irate and uncooperative; he reportedly told them he was going to sue the department. The animal-cruelty investigation continues.
