Officers explain dog-ownership responsibilities to pitbull owner
May 31, 2007, 8:44 AM
Police came to the 1400 block of Highland to check out reports of a pitbull attack. The owner of a black Lab said she was walking her dog when the brown and white pitbull came out of a yard on that block and bit the Lab in the ear and neck. The owner, a 17-year-old girl, told police she and her boyfriend live on the block and that neighbors are the ones responsible for leaving their gate open, freeing the pitbull. Police explained that in fact she, and not the neighbors, is responsible for closing the gate and controlling the dog. She received a ticket for allowing the pitbull to run at large.
