Berwyn Police Blotter

Note to homeowners:  this is not how a foreclosure goes down

April 2, 2008, 9:32 AM
A woman from the 37800 block of Elmwood told police a man pulled up to her house at 7:45 AM, driving a rusty older white van, then rang her bell.  The man said, “I’m here to foreclose on your property and lock down your residence.” The woman asked to see some identification, upon which the man walked back to the van and fled in it.  The woman then called her mortgage company, and was assured that they do not have people come to mortgage-holders’ hosues, and furthermore that she was not in foreclosure.  The victim described the offender as a male white, 5’10”, 180 lbs, with curly grey hair, wearing jeans and a blue and grey flannel shirt.
