Berwyn Police Blotter

“My lawyer will have your job!”

January 1, 2008, 7:35 AM
A hit-and-run accident in the 6600 block of Cermak involved a bus and a Chevy Aveo.  The Aveo was still at the scene, but its driver and passengers were gone.  Police located the passengers, one of whom stated, “you have nothing on us and my lawyer will have your job.” Witnesses positively identified both passengers: they were Roger Chavez, 33, of the 2500 block of Lombard, and Alfredo Chavez, 25, of Cicero.  Both men appeared boisterous, aggressive and intoxicated; both were charged with disorderly conduct.  When the Aveo was towed, police found a wallet on the driver’s seat.  The wallet held a photo ID for 20-year-old Antonio Lopez of the 1600 block of Ridgeland.  Lopez later came to the Berwyn police station, where he explained that bad weather had caused him to rear-end the bus.  Lopez was charged with driving despite a license suspension, failure to immediately report an accident, and driving uninsured.
