Minor found with malt liquor at abandoned house
August 11, 2008, 9:34 PM
Callers told police several people were sitting around drinking on the side porch of an abandoned house in the 2200 block of Cuyler, east side. Officers approached the house from the rear, and saw a man and a woman flee from the side porch. A woman was found hiding in the back yard. Police escorted Nicole Gerri Rodriguez, 18, out of the bushes and took her into custody. Rodriguez, a block resident who lived on the other side of the street from the property where she was found, was asked the name of the man who fled. Rodriguez reportedly told police his name was “Juan” and he was from Cicero. As police checked over the property, they saw two 40-ounce bottles of Cobra malt liquor and one 40-ouncer of Magnum. Police said Rodriguez pointed out one bottle and said, “That one is mine. I only had about two sips before you guys pulled up”. She was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor. Police also recovered the bicycle of the missing “Juan”; it was a purple girl’s 10-speed.
