Minivan damages police car, traffic sign
April 8, 2007, 1:59 AM
An officer responding to a call about a battery victim at La Aduana bar was headed there in one of Berwyn’s new Dodge Charger squad cars, using lights and sirens, when a 2001 Ford Windstar entered the intersection of East and 24th and struck the squad. The driver, a 21-year-old man, said he had not heard or seen the sirens and lights. But two male witnesses saw the accident and were not certain the minivan had even stopped before entering the intersection. The driver was ticketed for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle; damage to a city vehicle, and damage to a city traffic sign.
