Man delivers pizza, almost gets robbed

June 29, 2008, 1:16 PM
A 34-year-old North Riverside man told police he was delivering a pizza to an apartment in the 1800 block of Elmwood when a man tried to rob him.  The victim said he was leaving the building when a man stopped him in the stairway, reached under his hoodie and said “you know what I got under here. Give me the money.” Instead, the victim fled back to the pizza-orderer’s apartment to call 911; he said he can identify the offender.  The victim described the would-be robber as a male Hispanic in his 20s, 140 lbs, bald with a goatee, dressed in dark pants and a grey hoodie.
