Berwyn Police Blotter

Low rent

August 16, 2008, 11:29 PM
A woman told police she was robbed while walking in her own neighborhood.  She said the robber wore a dark hoody and covered his face; when she reacedh Windsor and East, he grabbed her around the neck, pushed something metallic against her neck and threatened to hurt her, then took her wallet out of her purse. The wallet contained cash and ID cards.

The victim, a 51-year-old woman, gave off a strong odor of alcohol.  She told police she had consumed about two 6-packs of beer, starting at the Windsor lounge, then moved on to George’s on Stanley to purchase more beer.  She said she took that home and drank it, then walked to the home of a nearby friend.  She was on her way back to her own place when the robbery occurred, she told police.  The victim said the money stolen from her—$140—was in fact her rent payment.
