Berwyn Police Blotter

Landlord, non-paying tenant dispute drags on

June 3, 2007, 1:29 PM
A man from an apartment in the 3100 block of Harlem called police claiming his landlord had just broken down the door to his apartment. The caller also suggested his belongings were being stolen. The tenant, who has not paid his rent in at least three months, stated he plans to live there until he is evicted.  Police found both landlord and tenant at the scene.  When questioned by police, the tenant denied telling dispatchers items were being stolen from his apartment.  The landlord told police the tenant had promised to be gone by June 1st, so he waited an extra two days, then went into the flat to see what repairs would be needed.
