Hydrant crash, hit-and-run and no left turn
June 29, 2008, 7:10 AM
At Harlem and Ogden, a green Infiniti struck a fire hydrant, breaking off the hydrant and causing heavy damage to both hydrant and car. Driver Michal Knebl, 21, of the 1600 block of Euclid, received tickets for improper lane use, damage to city property, and driving unlicensed and uninsured.

Police noticed a silver Nissan Altima with heavy front-end damage parked in the 1900 block of Cuyler. A wheel was torn off the rim. Scratches in the street, such as would be made by a car driving only on a rim and not a tire, led back to 23rd and Ridgeland. There, police found a parked Yukon with damage leading them to believe it was struck by the Altima. The Altima was registered to a couple in Homer Glen.
10:03 AM
A Mitsubishi Galant was stopped by police after it turned left onto East from the alley south of Cermak, despite the clearly posted No Left Turn sign. Driver Fidel Guevara, 40, of the 1200 block of Elmwood, was cited for the forbidden turn, no valid license, and no insurance.
