Berwyn Police Blotter

Hoosiers choose Berwyn to stage street fight

August 30, 2008, 2:44 AM
Police responding to reports of a fight in the street came to the 2500 block of Harvey, where a 21-year-old man said he had just been punched by his girlfriend.  The woman then fled, as a passenger, in a white Cadillac.  The victim, a resident of Whiting, Indiana, said he had argued with his 18-year-old girlfriend—also a Whiting resident—before she hit him in the head and tore his shirt.

Other officers stopped the Cadillac at 24th and Lombard.  The offender was, indeed, a passenger in the vehicle, but the victim refused to sign complaints.  A 1.75 liter bottle of Absolut Vodka, sans cap, could be seen in the back pocket of the front passenger seat.  Driver Alma Cabrera, 30, of the 2700 block of Highland, received a ticket for transporting open alcohol.
